Why is it called F!nance Sampan?

Sampan is a small flat-bottomed wooden boat, often used in rivers or coastal waters of China and Southeast Asia. In the early days of Singapore (known as Temasek back then), sampan used to be a common means of transport in rivers and wetlands. Sampan might look fragile in modern times, yet it was crucial to the development of Southeast Asia, and still plays an important role for dissemination of information, goods and services to the developing areas.

I named this section a F!nance Sampan, because I hope that this little space on the internet will play its part like a little sampan in bringing useful information, tools and encouraging words to transform people’s relationship with money, but most importantly, to improve on their quality of life as the main goal.

让我们来谈谈个人理财与更广阔的生活议题。
我将发布一系列文章，探讨“财务健康的五大支柱”等主题，包括：

• 精选的真实故事与访谈笔记：关于谨慎理财、财务韧性、被动收入与财务自由等内容
• 书籍分享：从不同角度探讨我们与金钱之间的关系

为什么取名为 ‘理财舢板’？

Sampan（舢板） 是一种小型、平底的木船，常见于中国及东南亚的河流或沿海地区。
在新加坡的早期（当时称为淡马锡），舢板是常见的河川与湿地中的主要交通工具。
虽然在现代看来，舢板似乎渺小而脆弱，但它在东南亚的发展中起到了至关重要的作用，如今仍是偏远地区运送信息、物资与服务的重要工具。

我把这个栏目命名为 F!nance Sampan（理财舢板），是希望这个网络上的小小空间，也能像一艘舢板那样，载着有用的资讯、工具与鼓励人的话语，帮助人们重新建立与金钱的关系。但更重要的是让大家的生活品质因此得到提升。
